I think I see 2G-1 in the error message. Is that the limit you were looking
for?

I 've 3-4 servers with 16-26G of memory, that I thought I could use for
some large sorts we 're running at night.

I got back
06:24:20 LNW >ALTER SESSION SET SORT_AREA_SIZE =3147483647;
ERROR: ORA-00068 (See ORA-00068.ora-code.com): invalid value 3147483647 for parameter sort_area_size,
must be
between 0 and 2147483647

Opened a TAR and OS said it was OS dependent. I asked what limit was and
he said he didn 't have that info, BUT, if I re-started DB the problem should
go away... I was hoping for a more concrete answer. And TAR still hasn 't
been updated although I did get phone call.
